About Westmorland Park
Recreational Amenities
This park features a spacious open field excellent for everything from frisbee tossing to impromptu soccer games. One of the most charming touches is the rock garden - a little oasis of natural beauty that adds character to the landscape.
If you're feeling athletic, there are plenty of options: shoot some hoops at the basketball court, play a match at the tennis courts (which also function as pickleball courts for paddle-sport enthusiasts), enjoy the sand volleyball court, or play at the softball field.
Family-Friendly Features
Kids will make a beeline for the expansive playground area that caters to little ones of various ages. It's well-kept and a favorite hangout spot for neighborhood families looking to burn off some energy.
When winter blankets the ground, Westmorland transforms into a cold-weather paradise. The ice skating area is maintained by local volunteers through the city's Adopt Ice program. It's considered one of Madison's better ice rinks, with volunteers regularly clearing snow and hosing down the surface. You'll discover both a hockey rink and a separate skating area in the lower field, and the park's natural layout helps shield you from those biting Wisconsin winds.

Community Facilities
The heart of the park's community spirit might just be its reservable shelter (or pavilion), available from April through October. A working fireplace adds warmth and ambiance to gatherings.
Yes, there are functioning restrooms here too, but do note they operate on seasonal schedules. The park's flagpole stands tall as a community focal point, reinforcing the space's role as a neighborhood hub.
Community Events
Westmorland hosts various community events throughout the year. Kids can participate in summer recreation programs, while the annual Fourth of July celebration brings the neighborhood together in patriotic spirit. The generous open spaces make this an ideal spot for school picnics and family reunions alike.
Dog-Friendly Information
Four-legged friends are welcome companions here, provided they stay leashed throughout your visit. The open grassy areas offer plenty of space for your pup to explore while you soak in the peaceful neighborhood vibes.
