Tucked away in Birmingham's Mountain Brook area, Overton Park is a cozy 2.5-acre retreat that's become a neighborhood favorite. Located at 3009 Overton Road, this fully fenced green space offers an ideal blend of recreation and relaxation for anyone looking to enjoy some outdoor time.

Open from 6AM to 9PM daily, the park offers two parking areas - some spots even blessed with shade for those scorching Alabama summer days.

Natural Beauty & Walking Path

At the heart of Overton Park lies a generous open lawn where you can stretch out, play catch, or simply soak up some sunshine. One of the park's standout features is its brick walking path that loops around for exactly 2/10 of a mile - ideal for those who like to keep track of their exercise metrics.

We particularly love how the mature trees across the park create natural shade canopies, making even mid-day walks comfortable. As you stroll, you might notice the small fountain adding a peaceful background soundtrack to your visit.

Kid-Friendly Features

If you're bringing little ones along, there's a good-sized playground area with modern equipment that's especially suitable for the preschool crowd, but kids of various ages will find something to enjoy.

A nice feature is the storybook path that winds around the park, featuring pages from children's books that encourage kids to read while they move - combining literacy with activity. There's also a charming little free library where you can take or leave a book for your next visit.

Note that while the park welcomes humans of all ages, your four-legged friends will need to stay home - dogs are not permitted in the park, as multiple signs remind visitors.

Sports & Facilities

For the more active visitors, Overton offers fenced tennis courts and a basketball court. If others are waiting to play, there's a one-hour time limit - just a little neighborly courtesy.

When nature calls, you can find a clean unisex restroom near the tennis courts. It's well-maintained and even houses an AED for emergency situations - a thoughtful safety feature that hopefully never needs using.
