About the Location
Scenic River Trail
The Tennessee River Greenway is a short but scenic trail located in southern Huntsville, Alabama. The greenway stretches for approximately 0.93 miles along the northern banks of the Tennessee River, offering visitors views of the water and surrounding landscape.
The paved path is part of Huntsville's larger greenway system and connects to other trails in the area. At its northern end, the Tennessee River Greenway links up with the Aldridge Creek Greenway near the entrance to Ditto Landing Park.
Trail Route & Features
The trail proceeds south through Ditto Landing, running past amenities like pavilions before turning east to parallel the river. Along the greenway, visitors can observe boats and barges traveling on the Tennessee River.
The trail passes by an old warehouse and concrete area that was formerly used as State Docks. At the eastern terminus, the path ends at the Madison County Marina.
Recreation Opportunities
While relatively short in length, the Tennessee River Greenway provides an accessible way for pedestrians and cyclists to enjoy river views and outdoor recreation. The mostly flat, paved surface makes it suitable for walking, jogging, and biking.
On a clear day, users of the trail can see across the river to the US-231 bridge.
