About the Location
A Natural Escape
Located in south Anchorage's Bayshore/Klatt neighborhood, KFQD Park spans 8 acres of undeveloped space. Just across from Bayshore Elementary School, this park keeps things beautifully natural - something that locals genuinely appreciate about this little green haven.
What You Can Do Here
The open field area gives you plenty of room to toss a frisbee, kick a ball around, or simply spread out a blanket and enjoy the day. A paved trail connects Bayshore Drive to Admiralty Bay Drive, excellent for a quick morning jog or a leisurely evening stroll.
Cycling enthusiasts will be happy to find the recently opened pump track, which offers a fun riding experience whether you're just starting out or have been biking for years. Got little ones? The park includes play equipment specifically designed for children 2-5 years old.
Getting Better All the Time
Back in 2021, Anchorage residents voted to fund some thoughtful improvements to KFQD Park. Construction kicked off in June 2024, focusing on enhancing what's already there while preserving the park's natural character that everyone loves.
These upgrades include better drainage for the field (goodbye, muddy puddles!), updated play equipment, a short bike loop near the play area, and nicer seating around the picnic shelter. If you're planning ahead, know that more playground improvements are coming in 2025.
Why Locals Love It
KFQD Park offers a peaceful spot to disconnect, get some fresh air, and enjoy south Anchorage's natural beauty. It's not flashy or overcrowded - just a simple green space in the Bayshore/Klatt neighborhood.
