About the Location
Recreational Facilities
Set in the Turnagain neighborhood of West Anchorage, Lloyd Steele Park is a green getaway for locals looking to enjoy some outdoor time. This community park provides a nice green space amid the Alaskan urban setting.
The park's main draw is its soccer complex, but it's worth noting that getting there can be a bit of an adventure. The non-motorized paths leave something to be desired, and even if you're driving, the routes can be somewhat puzzling for first-time visitors.
Community Efforts
The park has seen its share of love from the community. Back in 2015, the Anchorage Park Foundation rallied 132 volunteers who rolled up their sleeves to spruce up the soccer fields. It was a great example of neighbors coming together to care for their shared spaces.
There were also plans in the works to enhance the park further, with meetings scheduled with Parks and Recreation to nail down specifics for future upgrades.
Amenities
If you're planning a gathering, you might be interested in the park's picnic pavilion. At 20 by 30 feet, it's spacious enough for a variety of events and can be reserved for either half or full days.
This makes the park suitable for everything from family reunions to community meetups.
