Imperial Park
About Imperial Park
A Hilltop Haven with a View
Found on South Imperial Highway in Anaheim, Imperial Park is a 7.4-acre slice of tranquility that's been offering locals a breath of fresh air since 1989. What makes this spot special? For starters, the panoramic views of Anaheim Canyon and the San Gabriel Mountains in the distance. On a clear day, the vista is absolutely worth the visit alone.
The park's paved pathways make for easy strolling, and if you're up for a slight climb, the viewpoint at the top rewards you with sights of Yorba Linda to the north and glimpses of the Imperial Highway overpass at the 91. We find the park especially nice in the early morning hours during summer, when the light hits just right and the air is still cool.
Playground Paradise (Refreshed in 2017)
In 2017, the playground got a complete makeover, and it's not your average slides-and-swings setup. This colorful play space offers plenty of opportunities for kids to climb and explore.
Little adventurers can zoom down a zip track, make music on interactive boards, tackle climbing walls, or test their skills on arched monkey bars. The younger crowd isn't forgotten either - there's an adorable tractor-themed structure that sparks imaginative play for the tiny tots.
With swings designed for both toddlers and bigger kids, this playground hits the sweet spot for multiple age groups.
Room to Roam
Need some space to stretch out? The large grassy lawn next to the playground offers plenty of room for impromptu soccer games, frisbee tosses, or simply sprawling out on a blanket with a good book.
The thoughtfully landscaped grounds make dog walking a pleasure rather than a chore. And if you're feeling extra adventurous, you can explore additional trails below the hill, accessible from S Scout Trail by E Camino Pinzon.
Picnic Central
The covered picnic area might be one of Imperial Park's best features - it's spacious, with multiple tables sheltered under a pergola patio that keeps the sun at bay. You can even reserve it for gatherings if you're planning something special.
Feeling hungry? Fire up one of the barbecue grills for an outdoor feast. There's something about food cooked in the open air that just tastes better, especially with that view as your backdrop.
Good to Know Before You Go
The park welcomes visitors daily from 5AM to 10:30PM, giving you plenty of daylight (and even some moonlight) hours to enjoy.
You'll come across a dedicated parking lot, but it can get crowded during school drop-off and pick-up times. Alternative parking is available along S Scout Trail, off Nohl Ranch Road. Many locals simply walk, bike, or skate in from nearby neighborhoods.
One thing to note: there are no restrooms within the park itself. The nearest facilities are at the Canyon Hills Library across the street or at nearby grocery stores, so plan accordingly.
Despite its proximity to busy roads, the park remains relatively quiet - a nice contrast to the surrounding urban environment.
