Sage Park
About Sage Park
History and Location
Nestled in Anaheim, California, Sage Park spans 8.6 acres of green relief amid the urban landscape. Opening in 1968, this neighborhood park offers recreational space for locals seeking fresh air and community connection.
You can find this green oasis tucked away in north-central Anaheim's high-density residential area, at the end of a dead-end street. It's somewhat hidden at the end of a dead-end street - the kind of spot you might not stumble upon unless someone familiar with the area points you in the right direction.
2015 Makeover
In 2015, Sage Park got a much-needed refresh. Out went the aging restrooms, play areas, and tired landscaping - in came a suite of new amenities designed with the community in mind. This renovation improved the neighborhood amenities and was funded through grants from the Department of Housing and Community Development Housing-Related Parks Program of California.
Recreational Spaces
The park offers various activities across its grounds. Kids can enjoy the large, modern playground with up-to-date equipment designed with safety in mind - something parents watching from nearby benches will appreciate.
Sports enthusiasts have plenty of options too. Regardless of whether you're shooting hoops on the outdoor basketball court, organizing a casual game on the football/soccer area, or gathering a team for softball on the dedicated field, there's space to get active. Drop by on weekends or evenings, and you'll likely find these areas alive with friendly competition and exercise.
Amenities and Features
Not feeling particularly athletic? No problem. Sage Park's picnic tables scattered across the grounds make perfect spots for afternoon lunches or catching up with friends. The strategically placed benches invite you to sit and observe the rhythms of park life or lose yourself in a good book.
The generous green spaces provide room to breathe - areas where you can throw a frisbee, practice yoga, or simply lie back and cloud-watch. These unstructured areas balance nicely with the more defined recreational spaces.
For practical matters, clean restroom facilities are available on-site. While the park maintenance team works hard to keep everything in good shape, you might occasionally notice some graffiti - an unfortunate reality of urban parks, but one that doesn't significantly detract from the experience.
Community Heart
Sage Park is particularly valuable for families living in nearby apartment complexes with limited private outdoor space, giving them room to stretch, play, and connect.
The layout allows multiple groups to enjoy different activities simultaneously - kids can play while teens shoot hoops and adults chat at picnic tables, all within the same green space.
