About the Location
A Piece of Anaheim History
Situated in Anaheim lies La Palma Park, a sprawling 21-acre green space that's been part of the community fabric since 1939. As the second park ever built in Anaheim, it has a place in the city's heritage.
One of the first things you'll notice are the generous shade trees scattered throughout the grounds. On hot California days, these leafy giants offer welcome relief while you explore the mix of open spaces and recreational areas.
Get Your Game On
If you're the active type, La Palma Park offers several options. The lighted baseball fields allow for games that stretch into the evening, while the lighted football/soccer area comes alive on weekends with local kids showing off their footwork.
Looking to shoot some hoops? Head to the basketball courts for a pickup game. More of a racquet sports person? The park's tennis facilities are waiting for your best serve.
Kid-Friendly Zones
La Palma Park features two distinct playgrounds for children of different ages. The younger set (up to five years old) has their own space with age-appropriate equipment, while kids between 5-12 years can enjoy their dedicated play area with more challenging features.
Both playgrounds are designed with safety in mind, making them perfect spots to let the little ones burn off energy while you relax nearby.
For the Fur Families
La Palma Park is a dog-friendly destination with a dedicated dog park right next to the main grounds. There's smart separation between areas for small and large dogs, with plenty of open space in the large dog section for energetic pups to sprint and play.
The dog park has a friendly, community feel with many regulars bringing their four-legged friends for socialization. While water stations are available, it's not a bad idea to bring your own supply, especially on warmer days.
Gather and Feast
When hunger strikes, make use of the park's picnic shelters, picnic tables, and fixed barbecues. Regardless of whether you're planning a family reunion or just a casual lunch outdoors, the setup makes for easy outdoor dining.
For those looking to balance out that barbecue, the park's outdoor fitness equipment offers a chance to get in a workout surrounded by nature. The spacious grounds also provide plenty of room for walking and stretching your legs.
Community Central
La Palma functions as a neighborhood gathering spot where locals spend time in nature and with each other. The walking paths are good for leisurely strolls and provide a peaceful break from the urban surroundings.
During the year, the park transforms for various events - from early May fairs complete with games and attractions to the occasional car show displaying vintage wheels. As day turns to dusk, the park's evening lighting creates a special atmosphere that's worth experiencing.
Good to Know
La Palma Park welcomes visitors daily from 5AM to 10:30PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy its offerings. Restrooms are available, however you might find them closed during certain hours.
There are parking lots onsite, but they can fill up during busy times or special events. You might also notice ongoing improvements - a sign of the park's evolution.
Looking Ahead
Exciting changes are on the horizon for La Palma Park. Future plans include new soccer fields, additional exercise equipment, a dedicated special events lawn, an open-air arena, and updated restroom facilities.
Recent renovations have updated various sections of the park.
