About the Location
A Peaceful Escape
Tucked away in Burbank, California, Mountain View Park is that quiet spot you've been looking for when the city gets a bit too much. This local park offers plenty of breathing room and a surprisingly peaceful atmosphere - something we could all use a little more of these days.
With its green lawns and well-kept grounds, the park creates a great backdrop for whatever your day calls for. There's open space for sprawling out with a good book, and designated areas when you're feeling more active. One thing you'll definitely appreciate? The abundance of shade trees that keep things cool even when California decides to crank up the heat.
Something for Everyone
If you're eight or eighty, Mountain View Park offers something for all ages. Got kids? The playground area features two separate structures - a smaller one excellent for the little ones, and a taller, more challenging setup where older children can test their climbing skills. There are swings and sand pits too, but fair warning: the sand could sometimes use a refresh.
Sports fans haven't been forgotten. The park includes basketball courts and lighted tennis courts that let you keep playing even after sunset. And if you're into pickleball, you'll be happy to know the courts accommodate that too.
Looking for something more laid-back? Grab one of the picnic tables for lunch or an early dinner. When those are taken (as they often are on beautiful weekends), just throw a blanket down on one of the spacious grassy areas instead.
Beyond the Basics
Mountain View Park offers more than just playgrounds and picnic tables. There are horseshoe pits if you're interested in a game. More of a cornhole enthusiast? That's available too.
Practical matters haven't been overlooked - there are restroom facilities on-site, though they might not be the most updated you've ever seen. A sweet community touch is the Little Free Library, where you can pick up a new read or leave one behind for someone else to discover. And keep an eye out for the park's resident squirrels, who seem to have figured out they've got a pretty good thing going here.
Finding Your Way
Situated between Disney Studios and an equestrian center, the park sometimes offers the unexpected sight of horses and riders passing through - a little slice of old California in the middle of Burbank. You can find it at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Griffith Park Drive.
There's no dedicated parking lot within the park itself, but you can usually find street parking nearby. The gates are open from 6 AM to midnight daily, giving you plenty of time to enjoy this little oasis.
A Bit of History
Mountain View Park has deep roots in the community, with historical photos showing it's been a Burbank fixture since at least the 1940s. For many locals, it's not only a park but also that familiar "home away from home" where countless memories have been made over the decades.
