Park Overview

Situated in northwest Chico, Peterson Park spans 4.10 acres of green space in a peaceful residential area. This local park provides a nice balance of recreational options in a clean, tranquil setting.

At the heart of the park lies a spacious multi-use turf playfield - meant for everything from tossing a frisbee to setting up an impromptu family picnic or friendly soccer match.

Recreational Facilities

The park's basketball court is available for pickup games or solo practice sessions. If you're visiting with kids, they'll love burning off energy at the playground designed specifically with their fun and activity levels in mind.

For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, a lovely walking path winds through the park, ideal for your morning stroll, afternoon walk, or just stretching your legs while enjoying some fresh air.

Community Amenities

Feeling hungry after all that recreation? Several picnic tables are scattered around the grounds - excellent for enjoying a packed lunch or casual dinner outdoors. One of the park's most charming features is its cute little library, where you can browse, borrow, or leave behind books for fellow park-goers.

The thoughtful layout makes Peterson Park equally welcoming whether you're flying solo or organizing a family outing. And no need to stress about parking - there's plenty available around the perimeter.

New Playground

Kids are in for a treat with the park's recently unveiled playground. This upgraded play area features two slide styles, various ladders, a rock climbing wall, a bridge connecting play towers, a zip line, a swing set, and a merry-go-round that kids seem to enjoy.

The playground took about five weeks to install and was designed with safety and fun in mind. It's particularly well-suited for children between 4-12 years old, but kids of all ages seem to find something to enjoy.

Note that there are no public restrooms available here, so plan accordingly. The park welcomes visitors daily from 7AM to 7PM.
