Gisler Park
About Gisler Park
A Touch of Costa Mesa History
Located in Costa Mesa sits Gisler Park, named after Samuel Gisler, a Swiss immigrant who established his dairy farm here back in 1908. More than just a farmer, Gisler cultivated a variety of crops including beets, barley, and alfalfa on this very land that now is a community gathering space.
What You'll Find
Though modest at 4.1 acres, this local park packs in plenty of recreational options. The open grassy areas provide perfect spots for tossing a frisbee, having an impromptu soccer match, or simply sprawling out with a good book.
If you're bringing little ones along, they'll enjoy the small playground complete with slides and swings. The generous strips of grass offer ample room for kids to burn off energy or for families to enjoy a casual game of catch.
Come Prepared
Planning to make a day of it? You'll find picnic tables and barbecue facilities ready for your outdoor feast. For the more active visitors, there's a volleyball court where you can bump, set, and spike to your heart's content.
Note that there are no public restrooms available, so plan accordingly. You might also want to bring your own water bottle, as drinking fountains are limited within the grounds.
The Vibe
What makes Gisler Park special is its peaceful atmosphere, a welcome respite from Costa Mesa's urban bustle. The park tends to stay relatively uncrowded, particularly during morning hours - perfect if you're seeking a quiet moment of reflection or an undisturbed workout.
Dog owners will appreciate the open spaces where four-legged friends can stretch their legs, however you'll need to clean up after your pet and be respectful of other visitors. With mature trees casting dappled shade across the grassy areas, it's a pleasant little escape that feels removed from city life, even if just for an hour or two.
