Park History

Murdy Park is a 16.04-acre community park that offers a wide range of recreational facilities and activities for residents and visitors. Developed in August 1971 and designed by Richard Bigler and Associates, the park was dedicated on September 15, 1971, making it a long-standing fixture in the community.

Community Center

The park is home to the Murdy Community Center, which provides various recreation opportunities and organizes several special events throughout the year. The center consists of four meeting rooms, a kitchen, and a studio, all of which are available for rent.

The community center houses restroom facilities and offers various programs including children's gymnastics classes. The center functions as a hub for community activities and provides indoor amenities for park visitors.

Sports Facilities

Murdy Park features a diverse array of sports facilities, including four lighted tennis courts, two lighted softball fields, and four lighted basketball courts. Tennis courts are available for reservation via QR code, website, or phone call, with children's tennis lessons offered during summer months (typically June to August).

The park also boasts four synthetic bocce courts surrounded by grass and shady trees, making them a popular spot for recreation. The skate park, which holds the distinction of being the first skating facility ever built in Orange County, maintains a vintage appeal that many skaters appreciate for its unique character.

Children's Play Area

For families with children, the park offers two distinct playground areas designed for different age groups. The play areas include a jungle gym and playground equipment, including baby bucket swings, kid swings, monkey bars, and a fireman's pole. The playground area is set in sand, providing a safe surface for play.

The playgrounds provide ample space for children to play and are popular with local families. The park's open grassy areas also offer additional space for children to run around and enjoy outdoor activities.

Amenities

The park's amenities extend beyond sports and play areas. It includes picnic facilities with four cooking grills that require charcoal (which visitors must bring) and four sinks with running water. There are also nearby restroom facilities and free parking in a paved lot next to the facility.

The park is dog-friendly, making it a good option for pet owners looking to enjoy outdoor space with their furry companions. Large grassy areas throughout the park provide ample space for various activities.

Murdy Park operates with a curfew from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am, ensuring a peaceful environment for the surrounding neighborhood during nighttime hours.
