About the Location
Green Space & Layout
Tucked away in Lancaster, this 8.6-acre park offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The grassy fields stretch out invitingly, well-suited for spreading out a picnic blanket, tossing a frisbee, or simply lounging with a good book.
What we really appreciate is the paved, well-lit walking trail that winds around the park's edges for about 1/3 mile. Whether you're in the mood for a gentle evening stroll or looking to get your steps in, this loop works well.
Young trees dot the landscape along the paths, providing patches of shade that will only get better as they mature. The thoughtful mix of sunny spots and shaded areas means you can find your perfect temperature zone no matter when you visit.
Dog Park Areas
If you're a dog parent, you'll find excellent dog-friendly facilities at Forrest E. Hull Park.
The park smartly divides its off-leash areas into two sections: a roomy enclosure for the large dogs to zoom around in, and a separate space where small dogs can play without feeling overwhelmed. There are convenient water stations complete with drinking bowls for your dogs.
The large dog section deserves special mention for its generous size - plenty of room for even the most energetic pups to burn off steam. A friendly community of regular dog owners has formed here, making it a great place to socialize while your dogs make friends of their own.
Amenities & Features
Kids will make a beeline for the playground area, which features climbing structures that particularly appeal to older children, however younger adventurers can certainly enjoy them too. The wood chip surface adds an extra layer of safety for inevitable tumbles.
You'll find three picnic areas with sturdy concrete tables and benches throughout the park. Some spots even include grilling stations, making it easy to cook up some burgers while enjoying the outdoors.
These areas can comfortably fit groups of up to 20 people - well-suited for birthday celebrations or family reunions. Need a bathroom break? Restroom facilities are conveniently located near the playground.
They're on the smaller side (just one stall each for men and women) but are typically kept clean. You can find plenty of benches within the park when you need a moment to rest, especially along the walking trail and in the dog areas.
The park management has thoughtfully placed trash bins and dog waste stations with complimentary bags across the grounds, making it easy to do your part in keeping the park clean.
Community Use
Forrest E. Hull Park serves the community well. Throughout the year, the spacious grounds host various events from local gatherings to charity walk-a-thons.
On any given day, you might see families playing, dog owners chatting, walkers getting exercise, or joggers making their rounds - all contributing to the park's welcoming atmosphere. Its central location in Lancaster makes it an easy stop, and there are several fast-food options nearby if you want to grab a bite before or after your visit.
The park offers a well-maintained environment where people of different ages and interests can enjoy the outdoors side by side, creating opportunities for community connections.
