About the Location

History and Development

Montclair Park was developed with the aid of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in 1938-39 and covers approximately 6.7 acres.

Natural Features

At the center of the park lies a pond, which serves as a focal point and habitat for various wildlife, including ducks, geese, fish, and turtles. The pond is surrounded by walking paths, allowing visitors to stroll and observe the local fauna.

However, the pond has faced maintenance challenges, with overgrowth and trash accumulation being ongoing issues.

Play Areas

The park features multiple play areas catering to different age groups. There is a tot lot for younger children, a playground for older kids, and a unique "Wild West" themed area that includes a Wells Fargo stagecoach play structure.

These play areas received new, cushioned rubber mat surfaces in June 2022, enhancing safety for children.

Recreational Facilities

Montclair Park offers various recreational facilities, including tennis courts, a baseball diamond, and basketball hoops. A small skate park is also available for amateur skaters.

The park's expansive grassy areas provide ample space for casual sports, picnics, and relaxation.

Community Services

The Montclair Recreation Center, located within the park, offers a range of programs and classes for community members. While the center itself has faced closures and limitations on indoor activities, it typically provides services such as after-school programs and summer camps for children.

Location and Access

Nestled behind Highway 13 and adjacent to the Montclair shopping district, the park serves as a natural gathering point for residents of the surrounding hills. Its proximity to local amenities makes it a convenient spot for visitors to combine outdoor recreation with errands or dining in the nearby Montclair Village.
