About Centennial Park

A Bit of History

Positioned in the northeast corner of Riverside Drive and Campus Avenue, Centennial Park offers 3.9 acres of green escape in Ontario. Back in 1978, the city purchased this land from Lewis Homes of California with recreation in mind, and by 1983, they'd transformed it into the park we know today using dedicated development funds.

Though it originally carried the somewhat lengthy name of Campus Avenue Ontario Centennial Park, folks now simply call it Centennial Park - much easier to say when planning a meetup!

What You'll Find Here

Centennial Park is a peaceful natural retreat amid Ontario's urban landscape. It's easily accessible and provides a versatile outdoor space that locals of all ages can enjoy, whether you're looking for active recreation or just a quiet spot to unwind.

The layout thoughtfully blends active recreation zones with more peaceful areas. You can find plenty of open green spaces, smooth pathways meant for a stroll or jog, and designated areas for specific activities around the grounds.

Get Moving

If you're bringing the kids along, they'll likely make a beeline for the playground, which features slides and various balance-focused equipment that's especially suited for older children. The expansive grassy area surrounding the playground is excellent for running around, tossing a frisbee, or simply burning off some energy.

For those looking to work up a sweat, check out the exercise equipment in the dedicated fitness area or shoot some hoops at the well-maintained basketball courts. Need to get your steps in? The walking path makes for a nice route - a full loop around the park comes in at about 0.3 miles.

Picnic Perfect

Hungry after all that activity? You'll discover several picnic spots with benches scattered across the park. Planning to make a meal of it? Multiple barbecue grills are available if you want to cook up something tasty outdoors. It's an ideal setup for small family gatherings or casual get-togethers with friends.

Good to Know

Centennial Park is open 24 hours daily, and you can find street parking when you visit. One nice perk is that it typically sees fewer crowds than other local parks, creating a more laid-back vibe that many families appreciate. There's also a market nearby for any last-minute snacks or supplies you might need.

Note that while restrooms are available on-site, they occasionally experience maintenance issues, so it might be worth having a backup plan if needed.
