Westwind Park
About Westwind Park
Recreation Facilities
Located along East Riverside Drive in Ontario, California, Westwind Park spreads across 23 acres of green space. Established in 1998, this public space has become a local favorite for both active adventures and lazy Sunday afternoons.
At the heart of the park stands the 28,000-square-foot Westwind Community Center, which has been serving the community since 1990. Step inside and you'll discover a spacious gymnasium well-suited for shooting hoops or volleyball matches, plus a lively game room where you can challenge friends to billiards, foosball, or ping pong.
The center also houses a versatile multi-purpose meeting room that hosts everything from community gatherings to special events. The center's staff coordinates various programs and classes throughout the year.
Outdoor Sports Facilities
The park's 2,400-square-foot swimming pool offers relief during hot summer days. Sports enthusiasts have plenty of options too, with five baseball/softball fields that regularly buzz with league games and practice sessions.
The expansive soccer field draws both casual kickabouts and organized team practices. If basketball is more your speed, you can enjoy the outdoor basketball courts under the California sun.
The park's tennis courts offer a particularly nice perk - they're rarely overcrowded, making them excellent for casual players. You might even spot the regular tennis groups that gather in the morning hours for friendly matches.
Playgrounds and Picnic Areas
Families with kids will appreciate the well-kept playground that provides a safe space for children to burn off energy. The area stays clean and accommodates different age groups, so both toddlers and older kids can find something fun.
Hungry after all that play? The park offers numerous picnic areas with tables, many thoughtfully placed under shady trees. These spots make for perfect family gatherings or peaceful outdoor meals away from the hustle and bustle.
Special Events
Mark your calendar for Ontario's annual Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular held at Westwind Park's lighted Little League and softball fields. This treasured celebration brings the community together with food booths, live music, and of course, a dazzling fireworks display that lights up the night sky.
Landscape and Amenities
Throughout the park, you'll find sprawling lawns and the welcome shade of pine and eucalyptus trees - perfect settings for leisurely strolls or simply lounging with a good book. The concrete paths winding through the grounds are ideal for little ones still mastering their bike-riding skills.
Practical amenities haven't been overlooked either. Clean restroom facilities are available both inside the community center and at convenient spots around the grounds. And you won't need to circle looking for parking, thanks to the ample free parking lots on site.
With its mix of active spaces and quiet corners, Westwind Park is where many Ontario residents spend time outdoors, whether for sports, celebrations, or just relaxation.
