Oxnard Beach Park
About Oxnard Beach Park
Location and Features
'olołkoy Beach Park, formerly known as Oxnard Beach Park, stretches across 62 acres of coastal beauty in Oxnard, California. In 2023, the park was renamed using the Chumash word for dolphin, a thoughtful nod to the land's original inhabitants.
Tucked between the Oxnard Shores neighborhood and Zachari Dunes on Mandalay Beach, this park offers the best of both worlds. Gently rolling lawns cascade toward the shoreline, giving you plenty of space to spread out a picnic blanket, launch a colorful kite into the breeze, toss a frisbee, or simply lie back and watch the clouds drift by.

Beach Access
Take a short stroll through the dunes and you can find yourself on a wide, sandy beach with breathtaking views of the Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary. The beach is well-suited for a variety of activities - catch some rays, paddle out in a kayak, cast a fishing line, ride some waves on your body board, or test your surfing skills.
If you're cycling along the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route, the park makes an ideal rest stop to catch your breath and enjoy the scenery. For those with mobility issues, you'll appreciate the paved paths that lead to and along the beach, complete with benches where you can sit and take in the ocean panorama.

Recreational Amenities
Planning a gathering? The park offers several covered group picnic areas equipped with tables and BBQ grills - good for family reunions or meetups with friends. If you're feeling active, challenge someone to a game of volleyball at one of the courts, or watch your kids burn off energy at the extensive play area featuring a pirate ship-themed jungle gym that seems to delight children of all ages.
The spacious, open lawns provide plenty of room for impromptu sports games or just lounging around. And good news for dog owners - your leashed furry friends are welcome both in the park and on the beach.
Visitor Information
While 'olołkoy Beach Park is lovely year-round, it really comes alive during spring and summer. Even during these busier seasons, you'll typically find enough parking without much trouble. Expect to pay about $1 per hour to park, with a daily maximum of $5.
You'll discover clean restrooms around the park, some equipped with beach showers to rinse off the salt and sand. The grounds are well-maintained with conveniently placed garbage cans, helping preserve this coastal location's natural beauty.
What makes this park special is its versatility - the combination of grassy areas, playground equipment, and direct beach access creates an ideal spot for a day out. It's also typically less crowded than beaches closer to Los Angeles, giving you more space to relax and enjoy the California coast on your own terms.
