About the Location

Natural Features

Tucked away in Riverside, Green Leaf Park covers 95.29 acres of transformed terrain. What was once a gravel pit has been converted into a landscape with gentle grassy slopes and wooded areas.

At the heart of the park lies a .85-acre pond complemented by a 1.5-acre wetland that brings the ecosystem to life. During springtime, you can hear the chorus of spring peepers around the wetland, which is quite a pleasant experience.

Trails and Recreation

The park's .85-mile nature trail offers a moderate hike. It's a good way to explore the park's natural surroundings and spot local plants and wildlife.

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the football/soccer field where you can kick around a ball or simply watch others play. Come winter, the hill overlooking these fields transforms into a sledding hotspot - grab your sled and join the fun when snow blankets the ground.

Historical Elements

History buffs, take note: nestled within the park stands an early 1800s log home that once belonged to the Hard family. The Sharon Historical Society thoughtfully relocated this piece of history to the park, offering a tangible connection to the area's past.

Right next to the historic home, you can find a charming herb garden maintained by the Medina County Herb Society. It's a pleasant spot to wander through and learn about various herbs and their uses.

Amenities

Planning a gathering? The park features a reservable shelter well-suited for family reunions or group activities. If you're just looking for a casual lunch spot, individual picnic tables are scattered within the grounds for smaller groups or solo visitors.

The open grassy areas house two picnic tables and two benches where you can relax and enjoy the surroundings. Note that the park doesn't have restroom facilities, so plan accordingly before your visit.

Playground

Families with little ones will appreciate the playground specifically designed for very young children under 5 years old. With equipment scaled for tiny adventurers, it's an ideal spot for toddlers and preschoolers to burn off some energy while parents keep watch nearby.

Green Leaf Park welcomes visitors year-round, with each season bringing its own unique charm and activities to this versatile outdoor space.
