Twin Waterfront Parks

Embarcadero Marina Park consists of two separate parks: Embarcadero Marina Park North and Embarcadero Marina Park South. These waterfront parks are located along San Diego Bay in the downtown area, offering scenic views of the bay, Coronado Bridge, and the city skyline.

Embarcadero Marina Park North

Spanning 9.5 acres, Embarcadero Marina Park North is situated adjacent to Seaport Village. It features gently rolling grassy areas interspersed with groves of eucalyptus and coral trees, which help mitigate the impact of western winds.

A circuitous path loops through the middle of an open lawn, providing sweeping views of the Coronado Bridge and downtown San Diego. The park includes a small plaza that overhangs the water, as well as wood and concrete pergolas and gazebos for shade.

Embarcadero Marina Park South

Covering 13 acres, Embarcadero Marina Park South is located near the San Diego Convention Center. It is bisected by Marina Parkway and includes a large, curved parking area.

The park features two main lawn areas: a three-acre oval lawn to the north of the parking lot, and a smaller lawn to the south adjacent to a cement basketball court and an elevated gazebo. A T-shaped fishing pier extends into the bay, offering opportunities for fishing and views of the water.

Park History and Features

Both parks were commissioned in 1976 and completed in 1978, formed from the dredging of the bay's shipping channels. They are connected via the South Embarcadero promenade, allowing visitors to walk between the two areas.

The parks provide a tranquil escape from the busy downtown area, offering spaces for picnics, exercising, or simply relaxing by the water.
