Mission Beach Park

Coastal Location

Mission Beach Park is a coastal recreational area located in San Diego, California. The park spans nearly two miles of oceanfront, situated on a sandbar between the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay.

It is bounded by the San Diego River estuary to the south, Mission Bay Park to the east, and the community of Pacific Beach to the north.

Beach and Activities

The park features a wide, sandy beach that attracts visitors for sunbathing, swimming, and surfing. A boardwalk runs along both the ocean and bay sides of the community, providing a popular path for walking, jogging, cycling, and rollerblading.

Park Features

At the south end of the beach on the ocean side, there is a jetty, while the bay side offers a grassy area with parking and a walking path. The park's central location provides easy access to nearby attractions, including the historic Belmont Park amusement center, which features the iconic Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster, originally built in 1925.

Mission Beach Park is known for its vibrant atmosphere, especially during summer months when it becomes a hub of activity. The area surrounding the park is densely developed, with many residential structures dating back to the 1930s and '40s, giving the neighborhood a unique, historic charm.
