About the Location
Recreational Spaces
Tucked away from the city buzz, Greystone Park offers that perfect breath of fresh air when you need to escape the daily grind.
Kids have their pick of two distinct playgrounds here. The little ones (ages 2-5) have a partially fenced area on the street side, while the bigger kids (ages 5-12) have their own separate space. What's particularly nice is how both areas sit under generous tree coverage - meaning you won't have to worry about your kiddos baking in the summer heat.
What You'll Find
Planning a family get-together? The park's picnic areas include barbecue facilities and tables that are clean and well-maintained - not always a given at public parks!
Restrooms are available and kept clean, but heads up to parents of babies: there aren't any changing tables available.
One of the park's notable features is its canopy of tall pine trees. They create cool, shady patches across the grounds and add a peaceful, natural atmosphere to the park.
Getting Active
If you're looking to burn some energy, you'll appreciate the well-kept baseball fields and the sprawling grassy area that's meant for an impromptu football game or whatever sport strikes your fancy.
Need a more relaxed activity? The trails winding through the park are well-suited for a leisurely stroll, morning jog, or bike ride. There's also a connected walking/biking trail nearby if you want to extend your outdoor time.
Community Space
The park features a stage where you might catch concerts or music events, especially during the summer months. With plenty of picnic tables scattered around, it's easy to set up for small gatherings with friends or family.
The large grassy field provides tons of space for activities, but be aware it can be a bit uneven in spots - something to keep in mind if you're planning anything that requires flat terrain.
Good to Know
Parking can get tight during busy times or when events are happening. The main lot sits across a busy street, and accessible parking options are somewhat limited.
You should also be careful along Mount Carmel Drive - it's residential, but cars sometimes zip by faster than they should.
Upkeep
The City of San José's Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services keeps Greystone in good shape, ensuring it stays clean and inviting for everyone who visits. The park is open 24 hours every day.
