Ryland Park

Location and Overview

Positioned in the northern edge of downtown San Jose, Ryland Park is a pleasant 3.2-acre green space in the neighborhood. Located near the Hensley Historic District, this community park has become a favorite gathering spot for locals looking to escape the urban hustle without leaving the city.

Historic Swimming Pool

The Rotary Ryland Pool is a highlight of the park. Dating back to the late 1920s, this circular swimming pool has been cooling off San Jose residents for generations. With depths ranging from 2 to 5 feet, it's perfectly sized for younger swimmers to splash around safely.

Over the years, the pool has received some TLC through renovations while carefully preserving its historic charm - including those beautiful Batchelder tiles that line the edge. During summer, you can enjoy free swimming sessions with lifeguards on duty, plus there are shaded areas and benches where you can catch your breath between dips.

Recreational Facilities

Ryland Park doesn't exist in isolation - it's connected to the broader San Jose landscape via the Ryland Parkway, a generously sized sidewalk running along Ryland Street all the way to Coleman Avenue.
