Park Overview

Located in San Mateo, California, Laurie Meadows Park spreads across 7.5 acres of community-friendly space. What makes this spot particularly convenient is the pedestrian and bicycle bridge connecting it to Casanova Park right over Laurel Creek. This connection gives you easy access to both parks during your visit. The park offers options for children's play, exercise, and a dedicated area for dogs.

Recreational Facilities

The park offers several options for physical activity. There's a generous lawn area ideal for impromptu soccer and football games, plus a backstop if softball is more your style. The open grassy field is also ideal for those casual frisbee sessions or just lounging around on a sunny day.

Feel like moving? A paved walking path loops around the entire park - great for your morning jog, an evening stroll, or watching the little ones practice on their scooters. Basketball enthusiasts can head to the court located toward the back of the park for some pickup games.

You'll also find an outdoor exercise area with equipment that lets you work out while enjoying some fresh air - definitely beats being cooped up in a gym!

Playground Areas

Laurie Meadows features three distinct playground areas designed for different age groups. The front of the park houses two play zones: one tailored for the younger crowd (ages 2-5) and another for older kids (5-12).

These playgrounds are equipped with all the favorites - tube slides, swings, and climbing structures that both entertain and help develop those growing muscles. There's also a separate swing set area for those who can't get enough of soaring through the air.

There's also a third play area at the back of the park with additional play equipment.

Dog Park

There's a fenced dog park at the back of the property. It's recently had a makeover with decomposed granite replacing what was once an uneven surface - which is more comfortable for dogs. The enclosed space allows dogs to run off-leash safely while you chat with fellow dog lovers.

The area even has lighting for those evening visits when your schedule is tight but Fido still needs to play. Just remember that outside this designated area, your furry friend needs to stay leashed throughout the rest of the park.

Picnic Areas

Laurie Meadows offers both reservable and drop-in picnic areas for gatherings. Several BBQ pits are available, with shade provided by willow trees surrounding the area.

The picnic facilities can handle groups of various sizes, making this a go-to spot for birthday celebrations and family reunions. Just note that during summer months, these areas tend to fill up quickly.

Accessibility and Amenities

Getting to the park is straightforward with street parking that provides easy access to the playground and other facilities. Need a restroom? You'll have to take a short walk across the bridge to Casanova Park, where clean facilities await.

While crossing that bridge, take a moment to pause and look down at Laurel Creek - you might spot some local birds and wildlife going about their day, adding a nice touch of nature to your visit.
