About the Location
A Touch of History in Santa Clara
Positioned in Santa Clara lies a charming green space with roots deeper than its trees. Named after pioneer Abram Agnew, this park was once part of the unincorporated Agnew's Village before Santa Clara adopted it during the mid-1980s annexation. Though the village is gone, the Agnew legacy lives on through this park and other local landmarks that carry the name.
What You'll Find
This cozy two-acre neighborhood haven offers a breath of fresh air for nearby residents. With its greenery and practical layout, it's a nice spot to escape the daily grind without venturing far from home. We particularly appreciate how the park is fully fenced, creating a safer environment for little ones who tend to dash off at the first opportunity.
Play Areas That Actually Entertain
Whether you're in the mood for sprawling on the grass or getting your heart rate up, Agnew Park has options for both. The open grassy areas with gentle slopes are great for impromptu picnics, casual frisbee tosses, or simply watching the clouds drift by.
Kids won't be complaining of boredom thanks to the recently renovated playground equipment. The designers clearly thought about different age groups, including slides for the thrill-seekers, a spinner for the dizzy-loving crowd, climbers for the adventurous types, swings for the daydreamers, and monkey bars for those building their first calluses.
Getting Active
Toward the back of the park, you'll discover a basketball court that's ideal for shooting hoops or playing a pickup game with friends. No need to be LeBron James here - casual players welcome!
The park's recent makeover also included new outdoor workout areas, so you can get your fitness fix while enjoying some vitamin D. No monthly gym fees required.
The Little Things That Matter
Sometimes it's the basics that make a park visit pleasant. Agnew doesn't disappoint with its picnic tables for those who prefer not to sit directly on the grass (or ants), and restroom facilities so you don't have to cut your visit short.
A looping walking path makes for easy strolls or a safe circuit for kids practicing on scooters and bikes. If you visit during spring, keep an eye out for the blooming redbuds that add splashes of color to the landscape.
True to its neighborhood park status, you'll find street parking only - but that's usually plenty for a park of this size serving the local community.
