Historical Significance
A significant landmark within Civic Center Park is the Statue of Saint Clare, the city's namesake. This bronze statue, created by artist Anne Van Kleeck, was cast in Italy using the ancient "lost wax process" and installed in 1965.
The statue stands atop a seven-foot pedestal, overlooking the city and surrounded by concrete planters filled with flowers and fountains. Evening lighting illuminates the statue, making it a striking feature of the park landscape.
