Mary Gomez Park

History and Namesake

Named after Mary Sanchez Gomez, a Santa Clara native and dedicated educator, the park was dedicated on March 29, 1958, in recognition of her efforts to establish the city's Parks and Recreation Department.

Mary Gomez helped formulate a policy to establish parks in every neighborhood of Santa Clara during her tenure on the city's first Parks and Recreation Commission from 1950 to 1957. Today, the park stands as a testament to her vision and continues to serve as a valuable community resource.

Park Features

The park spans 5.64 acres and offers a variety of amenities for visitors of all ages.

Visitors can enjoy open grassy areas suitable for various activities and games. The park also includes picnic facilities with barbecue grills, making it an ideal spot for outdoor gatherings and community events.

Aquatic Facility

The swimming pool, which is open during the summer months, measures 75 feet by 42 feet, with a shallow end depth of 3 feet and a deep end depth of 9 feet.

The pool offers recreational swimming and swimming lessons during its operational season.
