Veterans Historical Plaza
About Veterans Historical Plaza
A Tribute to Military Service
Located in the heart of Old Town Newhall, Veterans Historical Plaza came to life in 2000 through a joint effort between the Santa Clarita City Council and state officials. This half-acre space is a peaceful memorial to those who've served in the United States military.
As you wander through the plaza, you'll notice thoughtful historical elements commemorating veterans from various wars and conflicts throughout our nation's history. One standout feature is "Willie, the Drummer Boy" - a distinctive art piece that came to life thanks to the generosity and support of local community members.
Community Gathering Space
This plaza is not only a memorial but also a community gathering place. During the year, the City of Santa Clarita hosts events here, including Veterans Day ceremonies, honoring local veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families.
Visitor Information
The City of Santa Clarita keeps the plaza well-maintained and open for everyone to visit. Beyond being a place for quiet reflection, it's also a wonderful educational resource. Take your time to discover the historical elements thoughtfully placed throughout the area - each tells a part of our shared military history.
