About the Location

A Tribute to Military Service

Located in Old Town Newhall, Veterans Historical Plaza was established in 2000 through a collaborative effort between the Santa Clarita City Council and state officials. The plaza spans approximately one-half acre and serves as a dedicated memorial to those who have served in the United States military.

The design incorporates various historical elements that pay tribute to veterans from past wars and conflicts. A special highlight is "Willie, the Drummer Boy", a unique piece of art that was funded through community efforts.

Community Gathering Space

Beyond its role as a memorial, Veterans Historical Plaza functions as an important public gathering space. The City of Santa Clarita hosts annual events at the plaza, including Veterans Day ceremonies, to honor local veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families.

Visitor Information

The plaza is maintained by the City of Santa Clarita and is open to the public. It serves not only as a place of remembrance but also as an educational resource, with visitors encouraged to explore the historical elements scattered throughout the area.
