The park has been around since 1975 when Santa Rosa snagged the land from the school district. Things really got rolling in 1979 when development kicked off, funded by a state grant and the Capital Improvement Program.

The name honors Dan Galvin Jr., a local sports enthusiast who served on the Recreation and Parks Commission. He also founded a business group that raised money for youth activities - pretty cool legacy to leave behind.

Galvan Community Park offers numerous recreational options. Golf lovers can hit the Bennett Valley Golf Course, and when you've worked up an appetite, the Iron & Vine Restaurant, Bar & Events venue is right there waiting.
