About the Location
A Family-Friendly Oasis
Established in 2016, this 5.9-acre park offers a variety of outdoor activities for visitors of all ages. The park features a mix of open grassy areas and mature trees, providing both sunny spots and ample shade for relaxation.
Disc Golf Adventure
One of the park's main attractions is its 9-hole disc golf course, which was the first of its kind in Simi Valley. The course is designed with concrete tee pads and DISCatcher Pro targets, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced disc golfers.
The layout of the course takes advantage of the park's natural landscape, incorporating trees and slight elevation changes to add challenge and interest to the game. While the holes are positioned relatively close together making it less challenging for advanced players, it provides an excellent practice or warm-up course.
Play and Recreation
For families with children, Sequoia Park includes a playground area where kids can climb, swing, and slide. The play area is covered with soft, springy bark chips for safety and is centrally located within the park.
The open grassy fields feature gentle rolling hills and are ideal for casual sports, picnicking, or simply enjoying the outdoors. Some visitors also use the space for volleyball, soccer, and pickleball activities.
Park Amenities
Throughout the park, visitors will find picnic tables and barbecue grills conveniently placed with nearby trash receptacles. The park is also dog-friendly with waste bag dispensers and trash cans located around the grounds.
A moderate breeze typically flows through the park, providing natural cooling on warmer days. Note that there are no restroom facilities or drinking fountains available in the park.
Accessibility and Layout
The park's layout includes paved pathways, making it accessible for walking, jogging, or casual strolls. These paths wind through the park, connecting various amenities and providing a pleasant route for exercise or leisurely walks.
Street parking is available around the perimeter of the park. The park is surrounded by residential areas and a school.
Community Connection
Sequoia Park is integrated into the local community, serving as a gathering place for residents and visitors alike. Its location within a residential area makes it a convenient spot for nearby residents to enjoy outdoor activities without having to travel far.
The park has a quiet, relaxing atmosphere with friendly visitors who tend to be respectful of the space. As the park's redwood trees continue to mature, the natural beauty of the space will only improve over time.
