About the Location
Riverside Retreat
Nestled along the San Joaquin River, Buckley Cove Park spans a generous 53 acres as Stockton's third largest community park. This waterfront park also includes the tranquil Spy Glass Lake, with natural beauty and recreational options that provide a nice escape from the urban environment.
If you're looking for a peaceful escape, this park offers a serene atmosphere and nice water views. The sunset views here are particularly beautiful - watching the sky turn golden over the water makes for a pleasant backdrop to an evening stroll or quiet picnic.
Gateway to the Delta
Water lovers, take note! The Buckley Cove Boat Launch at the west end of March Lane is your ticket to the incredible California Delta with its impressive 1,000 miles of navigable waterways.
The boat launch here features well-maintained docks with good space for water access. There's also ample parking for vehicles with trailers - always a plus when you're hauling a boat. Once you're on the water, you can even boat up to several restaurants, including the popular Garlic Brothers Restaurant, for a unique dining experience.
Room to Play
The park has several well-maintained recreation areas. Kids will enjoy the playground while having plenty of open space to run and play. The grassy areas are kept in good condition, offering perfect spots to relax or toss a frisbee.
Feeling hungry? The park features about six picnic benches scattered throughout, along with BBQ pits for those who want to grill. The large grassy areas under trees make for pleasant blanket picnics, but it's worth noting that shade can be limited in some sections - so bring your sunscreen on sunny days.
Fishing Spots
Fishing enthusiasts will find several designated areas for bank fishing, but be prepared for rocky shorelines in some spots that can make casting a bit challenging. Beyond just fishing, the park offers nice vantage points for wildlife watching - you might even spot sea lions playing in the river if you're lucky!
Hours & Access
You can visit Buckley Cove Park from 5AM to 7PM Monday through Friday, and 6AM to 5:30PM on weekends. There is an entrance fee (about $3 for regular vehicles and $15 for vehicles with boat trailers), which helps keep the facilities clean and well-maintained.
The park is gated with an attendant during operating hours, which contributes to the generally clean and safe environment you'll enjoy here.
Marina Perks
Within the park, you'll discover Riverpoint Landing Marina & Resort, offering convenient services for boaters including slips, fuel, pumpout facilities, and dry storage. This makes Buckley Cove an ideal starting point whether you're planning a quick day trip or a longer adventure exploring the Delta waterways.
Comfort & Convenience
The restroom facilities are kept clean and regularly maintained. Dog owners will be happy to know the park is pet-friendly, but your furry friends must stay leashed at all times. The pathways across the park are smooth and easy to navigate, meant for a casual stroll, a more ambitious walk, or a leisurely bike ride along the water's edge.
