About the Location
A Victorian Oasis in Sunnyvale
Located in the heart of Sunnyvale, Ortega Park spreads across 18.16 acres of green space with a charming Victorian theme. It's a nearby destination where families can easily spend an entire day with plenty to keep the kids engaged.
The park's lush vegetation and thoughtful landscaping make it a favorite among locals looking for a quick nature escape. Many residents consider it one of Sunnyvale's most pleasant outdoor spaces.
Playgrounds and Splash Zone
If you've got little ones, you'll appreciate how the park thoughtfully separates play areas by age. Toddlers (ages 2-5) can explore safely in their own fenced playground, while the bigger kids have more challenging equipment in an open area.
When summer temperatures climb, the water play area becomes the place to be, with splash fountains that provide instant relief from the California heat.
For more adventurous youngsters, a large rock wall offers a chance to practice climbing skills. And the swing set area covers all bases with four baby swings and four regular swings - though you might need to wait your turn during busy weekends.

Sports for Every Skill Level
Bring your racket, ball, or just your competitive spirit - Ortega offers several options. The park features well-maintained tennis courts and basketball courts for pickup games or regular practice.
The reservable multi-use sports field adapts to whatever game you're in the mood for, while cricket enthusiasts can enjoy a dedicated cricket pitch with matting in the middle of the grass field.
If you're looking for something a bit more relaxed, the shuffleboard courts or horseshoe pits are available - games that nicely match the park's Victorian theme.

Perfect for Gatherings
Ortega Park works well as a social space. Three picnic sites accommodate groups of 70-80 people, and two of these areas offer electrical outlets - handy for portable speakers or food warmers. You'll need to book these through Sunnyvale Parks and Recreation if you're planning something official.
The Victorian-styled gazebo makes a picturesque backdrop for special occasions and can also be reserved. When hunger strikes, the BBQ facilities with large grills let you cook up a feast. Can't secure a reservation? No worries - additional tables scattered around the park are available on a first-come basis.
Easy to Navigate
The park features paved walking paths throughout, making it accessible for strollers, wheelchairs, and those with mobility concerns. Dog owners frequently stroll the grounds with their four-legged friends, but remember that all pets need to stay leashed.
Clean restrooms are available during park hours - one for men and one for women. As for parking, there are several lots, but they fill up quickly when the weather's nice. If you arrive late, street parking on adjacent roads usually saves the day.
A Hub of Activity
Visit early in the morning and you might catch the peaceful sight of tai chi practitioners moving gracefully across the grass. Throughout the day, the park transforms with dance classes, yoga sessions, and impromptu sports games.
With expansive green spaces shaded by mature trees, Ortega Park offers a little touch of tranquility in suburban Sunnyvale. It's a good spot for a morning jog, a family picnic, or just spending some time surrounded by greenery.
