About the Location

Park Overview

Situated in Thousand Oaks, California, Conejo Creek South Park sprawls across 54.7 acres (with 50.3 developed acres) of recreational space. You can find this green oasis tucked behind the Conejo Valley Unified School District's administrative offices on East Janss Road. It's worth noting that this park has a sibling - Conejo Creek North Park - just across East Janss Road.

History and Development

The park's story began in 1972 when the land was first acquired. What makes this place special isn't just its facilities but the community spirit behind them. Over the years, dedicated volunteers, non-profit organizations, and local service clubs have poured their energy into improving this shared space. By 1976, the first soccer fields were completed, establishing what would become the largest sports turf area in the Conejo Valley.

Since 2005, the park has featured a full-size baseball field that's popular with local sports enthusiasts.

Activities and Features

Soccer fans will feel right at home here, as the park represents headquarters for AYSO Region 9 and hosts tournaments throughout the year. The well-maintained soccer fields are popular with local players.

Planning a family gathering? The park offers several covered gazebos that come equipped with everything you need - grills, outdoor sinks, and picnic tables - creating perfect spots for memorable get-togethers.

When nature calls, you'll appreciate the clean, well-maintained restroom facilities. And if you're looking to get your steps in, numerous walking paths wind through the expansive grassy areas, offering a peaceful way to enjoy some fresh air and exercise.

Events

The park comes alive during the annual Conejo Valley Days celebration and hosts other community gatherings year-round, including the foot-stomping good time that is the Wild Oaks Country Festival.

Sustainability

In 2013, the park took a step toward environmental responsibility by installing covered parking solar panels, simultaneously adding to visitor comfort while reducing its carbon footprint.
