About North Ranch Park in Thousand Oaks
North Ranch Neighborhood Park is a 12-acre public park located in the North Ranch area of Thousand Oaks, California. Situated at the southwest corner of Kanan and Upper Ranch Roads, this expansive green space was acquired by the Conejo Recreation and Park District in 1987 and developed into an improved neighborhood park in 1990.
The park's landscape is characterized by its rolling terrain and proximity to a natural creek. It boasts large turf areas ideal for various recreational activities and is adorned with several native sycamore and oak trees, adding to its natural beauty. In 2016, North Ranch Neighborhood Park became the first in the district to adopt reclaimed water for irrigation, demonstrating a commitment to environmental sustainability.
In November 2018, the park suffered significant damage from the Woolsey Fire. Subsequent repairs involved replacing plants, trees, irrigation equipment, benches, and ground cover. As part of the restoration efforts, a new permeable asphalt walking path was added around the perimeter and through the center of the park, enhancing accessibility and providing visitors with improved walking routes.
The park is open daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, offering residents and visitors ample time to enjoy its facilities and natural surroundings. Its location provides visitors with spectacular views of the nearby mountains, making it an ideal spot for both active recreation and peaceful relaxation.
