About the Location
A Peaceful Corner of Thousand Oaks
Tucked away at the southwest corner of Kanan and Upper Ranch Roads, North Ranch Park offers 12 acres of green tranquility in Thousand Oaks' North Ranch neighborhood. The Conejo Recreation and Park District acquired this spacious retreat in 1987, transforming it into the welcoming neighborhood park we enjoy today by 1990.
Natural Beauty All Around
With its gently rolling landscape and a natural creek nearby, the park invites you to explore and unwind. Expansive turf areas provide plenty of room to play, while majestic sycamore and oak trees create patches of shade and showcase local flora.
In a forward-thinking move back in 2016, North Ranch became the district's pioneer in adopting reclaimed water for irrigation - a small but meaningful step toward sustainability in our water-conscious region.
Rising from the Ashes
The park faced a major setback in November 2018 when the devastating Woolsey Fire swept through the area. The recovery process included replacing damaged plants, trees, irrigation systems, benches, and ground covering.
A silver lining emerged from this restoration, however - a new permeable asphalt walking path now winds around the perimeter and through the center of the park. Measuring about 0.4 miles in total, this path has made the park more accessible while providing a defined route for walkers and joggers.
Something for Everyone
Families gravitate toward the well-designed playground area, while the clean grounds make for perfect picnic spots on sunny California days.
If you're feeling active, the full-size basketball court awaits your best moves. And yes, your four-legged friends are welcome too - the park is dog-friendly, so the whole family can enjoy an outing together.
Good to Know Before You Go
One of North Ranch Park's charms is its peaceful, clean atmosphere nestled in a lovely residential setting. While there's no dedicated parking lot, you can find ample street parking nearby.
Note that there are no public restroom facilities available at the park. The gates are open daily from 7AM to 10PM.
A Feast for the Eyes
Perhaps one of the park's most understated features is the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. If you're breaking a sweat on the basketball court or simply sitting quietly under the shade of an oak, these natural vistas provide a stunning backdrop to your park experience.
