About the Location
Park Overview
Found in Thousand Oaks, Spring Meadow Park spans a comfortable 7 acres of green space ideal for neighborhood gatherings. Located at the southwest corner where Olsen Road meets Spring Meadow Avenue, this little retreat sits close to California Lutheran University. The land was scooped up back in 1978, but it wasn't until 1987 that it transformed into the park we know today. What makes this spot special? A charming creek cuts right through the middle, adding a touch of nature's magic to this family hangout.
Recreational Facilities
Got energy to burn? The park has two large fields ideal for soccer matches or casual ball games with friends. Basketball enthusiasts can hit the basketball court for a quick pickup game or some solo practice.
If you're into fitness, you'll appreciate the exercise stations scattered along the walking path - ideal for mixing up your workout routine. And for something a bit different, try your hand at the cement cornhole boards - a unique feature that adds a fun twist to the typical park experience.
2018 Renovations
In 2018, Spring Meadow Park got a much-needed facelift. The irrigation system received upgrades, new fitness equipment was installed, and a permeable asphalt walking path was added to improve accessibility.
The landscaping was refreshed to enhance the park's natural beauty, and the playground underwent renovations to keep the little ones safe and entertained. To round out the improvements, cornhole equipment was added, giving visitors yet another recreational option.
Natural Features
Perhaps the most distinctive aspect of Spring Meadow Park is the naturalized flood channel that divides it into two sections. Rather than detracting from the park's appeal, this natural feature enhances its character and creates two distinct areas to explore.
A paved walking path connects both sides, making it easy to navigate the entire park. The smooth surface works well for strollers, bike rides with the kids, or even a leisurely skating session.
Amenities
Planning a picnic? You'll find multiple picnic tables across the park, each paired with single BBQ pits for grilling. Plenty of shade trees offer relief on sunny California days, making it comfortable to spend hours enjoying the outdoors.
Dog owners, rejoice! Spring Meadow Park is dog-friendly, so your furry friend can join in on the fun. Just note that there are no public restrooms available, so plan accordingly before your visit.
Playground
Kids will love the well-maintained playground that's thoughtfully divided into two areas - one designed with smaller children in mind and another that caters to older kids. The clean, sturdy play structures provide a safe environment where children of all ages can climb, slide, and let their imaginations run wild.
