About the Location
Inclusive Playground
The centerpiece of the park is an 8,000 square foot inclusive playground, inspired by a local child. This playground is designed with equipment, instruments, and experiences that every child can enjoy, regardless of their physical capabilities or limitations.
The playground includes unique elements such as a wheelchair-accessible swing, a merry-go-round with room for sitting, standing, and wheelchairs, and ziplines.
Water Feature
Red-tailed Hawk Park offers a sprayground (splash pad) that operates seasonally from late May to early September, providing a refreshing spot for children during hot summer days.
Additional Play Areas
The park also features more traditional playground equipment in a separate area, including play structures for both toddlers and older children. This area includes elements such as a climbing wall, monkey bar circles, and a wavy bridge.
Park Amenities
Red-tailed Hawk Park is not just about playgrounds. It offers open fields for various activities, a wetland boardwalk, and picnic areas.
The park aims to provide recreation opportunities for all, with facilities for activities such as bocce ball, volleyball, and horseshoes.
Future Development
As of 2025, the Aurora Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department has been engaged in a master planning process to review the park's features and create an updated, cohesive design for future improvements.
This process has involved public meetings and surveys to gather community input on the park's development.
