About the Location

Dinosaur Playground Paradise

If you've got a little paleontologist on your hands, Rocky Ridge Park is about to become your new favorite spot. There's a large dinosaur bone replica that kids can climb all over - basically a dream come true for any child who's ever been obsessed with T-Rex and friends.

The playground is excellent for the 3-10 age crowd, with plenty of equipment to keep energetic kiddos entertained. Beyond the dino bones (which, let's be honest, are the star of the show), you can find swings, a jungle gym, a small climbing wall, and those standing spinners that make you just dizzy enough to be fun.

Get Your Game On

Basketball enthusiasts haven't been forgotten here. The park features nicely maintained courts with one full court and one half court option, giving you flexibility whether you're up for a serious game or just want to practice your shots.

Planning a gathering? The reservable shelter with its gazebo and picnic tables makes a great home base for birthday parties or family reunions. The ample shade it provides is particularly appreciated during those hot Colorado summer days.

There are restroom facilities available across the park, however availability might change seasonally, so it's worth planning ahead if bathrooms are a must for your visit.

Room to Roam

Spread across 13.3 acres, Rocky Ridge offers plenty of breathing room with expansive grassy fields and interconnected walking paths. These open spaces are great for impromptu frisbee games, picnic blankets, or simply lying back and cloud-watching.

Picnic tables can be found across the grounds - some tucked under the gazebo and others scattered beneath shady trees. Feeling hungry? Fire up one of the charcoal BBQ grills for an outdoor feast.

Your four-legged friend is welcome too! The park is dog-friendly with plenty of space for leashed pups to explore. You'll find dog waste bags stationed around the park, making it easy to keep the grounds clean for everyone.

Natural Beauty

Beautiful mature trees dot the landscape, creating natural shade throughout much of the park. The playground itself doesn't get quite as much coverage, so sunscreen is a good idea for summer visits. The scenic surroundings make this a popular backdrop for family photos - those dinosaur bones create some pretty memorable shots!

Conveniently located next to a bus stop, Rocky Ridge is a neighborhood gathering spot and green retreat for the community. It becomes especially lively during Fourth of July celebrations and other community events.

The park sits right in the heart of the Rocky Ridge neighborhood of Aurora, making it easily accessible for local residents. Just be aware that you might hear some traffic noise from Mississippi Avenue in certain areas of the park - a small trade-off for such convenient urban access.
