About the Location
What You'll Find Here
Tallgrass Park is a cozy 9.35-acre neighborhood spot nestled in Aurora, Colorado. Part of the Trails Park and Recreation District, this little green oasis packs in quite a few options for your outdoor enjoyment.
The 0.34-mile paved walking loop is great for a quick cardio session or a leisurely evening stroll. What's nice is that it connects to the Mesa Open Space Trail to the northwest, so you can extend your walk if you're feeling ambitious or just want to explore a bit more.
Get Your Game On
If you're into sports, Tallgrass has you covered. There's a basketball court where you can shoot some hoops, and a 9-hole disc golf course that's become something of a local favorite.
The disc golf course features concrete tee pads and Mach III targets, making it suitable whether you're just trying the sport for the first time or you've been playing for years. Each hole is a par 3, with distances varying from 169 to 356 feet - enough variety to keep things interesting. Just a heads up though: the course layout can be a bit tricky to navigate at first, so if it's your first visit, you might want to give yourself a little extra time to figure out where you're going.
Family Fun Space
The playground area is a hit with families, featuring separate structures designed specifically for younger and older children. Kids seem to love the climbing rocks scattered throughout, and there are swing sets too for that classic playground experience.
Need a spot for lunch or a family gathering? The shaded pavilion comes equipped with two picnic tables and a grill (though the grill might occasionally need some TLC). It's a wonderful setup for birthday parties or casual get-togethers.
Room to Breathe
One of the best features of Tallgrass is its generous grassy field - plenty of space for impromptu games of catch, frisbee, or just letting the kids run wild. The sidewalks and benches that border this area create a nice atmosphere for watching activities or simply sitting back with a good book.
You should note that there aren't any restroom facilities on-site, and there's no dedicated parking lot, but street parking along the curb works just fine. The park is handicap accessible, which is always a plus.
Keep in Mind
To keep Tallgrass enjoyable for everyone, there are some basic rules: no overnight parking, no climbing structures or trees, and motorized vehicles need to stay in designated areas. Pretty standard stuff that helps keep the park safe and pleasant for all visitors.
