About the Location
A Community Champion's Legacy
Situated in Clearwater lies a park named after Cherry Harris, a passionate community activist who dedicated nearly 30 years to various local organizations. Her spirit of service continues to thrive in this green space that brings the North Greenwood neighborhood together.
The park carries some pretty cool local history too - it was once the home of "Chunky Sunday" gatherings organized by a local DJ known as Killer, who helped cement this spot as a cultural landmark throughout Pinellas County.
Play Areas for the Little Ones
Kids have their pick between two separate playgrounds designed for different age groups. These areas offer a safe and fun space where children can burn off energy and make new friends.
There's plenty of room to explore with equipment that keeps little adventurers busy for hours. Just keep an eye on your kiddos while they play - safety first!
Around the playgrounds, you'll find open grassy areas meant for tossing a frisbee or simply lounging with a good book.
Gathering Spaces
Planning a get-together? The park offers two rentable pavilions that work perfectly for small gatherings, family picnics, or community meetups. These shaded structures come with seating and provide comfortable spots for groups to congregate.
These pavilions are go-to spots for celebrations, however it's always nice to keep noise levels reasonable so everyone can enjoy their park experience.
Trails to Wander
Paved pathways meander across the grounds, fantastic for a casual stroll or a light jog. The accessible trails make it easy to get some steps in while enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds you.
The Practical Stuff
You'll discover public restrooms available for when nature calls. They're typically clean, but like most park facilities, conditions can vary from day to day.
Bring your four-legged friends along! Cherry Harris Park is dog-friendly, welcoming pups and their humans. Just remember to be considerate with your pets, especially around children and other visitors enjoying the park.
