Historical Significance

A. Philip Randolph Heritage Park honors the legacy of A. Philip Randolph, a Jacksonville-raised civil rights pioneer who later became a powerhouse in both the Civil Rights Movement and American labor activism.

The park also pays tribute to Olympic gold medalist and Dallas Cowboys star Bob Hayes. This local legend, who grew up less than a mile away, is immortalized with a life-sized bronze statue that was unveiled in November 2002.
