About Jasmin Park in Jacksonville
Jasmine Park is a small urban green space located in the Murray Hill section of Jacksonville, Florida. Situated northwest of the intersection of Post Street and Edgewood Avenue, this park is one of the older municipal parks in the city, dating back to 1928 when the City of Jacksonville purchased the lots for its creation.
The park provides a tranquil setting within the bustling urban environment, offering area residents a place for relaxation and visual enjoyment. With its modest size of approximately 0.24 acres, Jasmine Park serves as a pocket of nature in the neighborhood.
Jasmine Park's history is intertwined with the development of the surrounding area. Many of the nearby streets, such as Cassat Avenue and Challen Avenue, are named after investors in the Edgewood Company that platted Edgewood in the 1880s. The northern section of Edgewood was later replatted as Murray Hill Heights in 1907, with a small portion replatted again in 1925 as Jasmine Place.
The park's layout is simple yet effective, providing a pleasant outdoor space for the community. Its design includes trees that offer shade and contribute to the park's serene atmosphere, making it an attractive spot for brief respites or casual gatherings.
