About Lakeside Park in Jacksonville
Lakeside Park I and II are two adjacent parks located in southwest Jacksonville, Florida. The parks reside in the Lakeside Park subdivision, which was initially platted by the Riverside Realty Co. in 1907. The development of this area was facilitated by the extension of the streetcar line from downtown Jacksonville in 1908, and the neighborhood was subsequently annexed by the City in 1925.
Park I is a triangular parcel measuring 0.75 acres. It features many oak trees of varying sizes, providing ample shade and a pleasant natural setting. Park II, established in the 1950s or early 1960s, is a smaller, oblong tract. It offers more open space and fewer trees compared to Park I, but the trees present are described as more picturesque.
Both parks are designed as passive recreational areas, presenting a tranquil setting for visitors. They provide a peaceful environment for relaxation and quiet enjoyment of nature within an urban context. The parks serve as green spaces that offer a respite from the surrounding residential and commercial areas, allowing residents and visitors to connect with nature in the heart of the Lakeside Park neighborhood.
