Touchton Park

A Peaceful Retreat

Touchton Park spans about 8.4 acres of urban greenery on Touchton Road East in Jacksonville, Florida, and it feels worlds away from city life. Trees create a natural buffer from the surrounding bustle, making it a cozy escape for anyone looking to decompress.

Wander and Wonder

The well-maintained trails meander through verdant landscapes - perfect if you're looking to clear your mind or get your steps in. A newer quarter-mile walking path loops around the pond, making it ideal for pushing strollers or enjoying a leisurely stroll. Whether you're out for a quick breath of fresh air or training for your next 5K, these paths work well for different paces and purposes.

Play Paradise

Kids enjoy the modern playground that's designed for various ages. Little ones can bounce on bucket swings while older children tackle the slides, seesaw, and climbing structures. The playground's shady location provides relief during Florida's warmer months, and its open layout encourages play for everyone from wobbly toddlers to independent tweens.

While the kids play, you can squeeze in a workout at the outdoor fitness equipment area. It's positioned perfectly for keeping an eye on the playground while getting your heart rate up.

Picnic Perfect

Fancy a meal in nature? Take your pick from three picnic tables scattered around the grounds or gather under the gazebo near the playground. The tables are thoughtfully positioned to maximize enjoyment of the surroundings, and wheelchair-accessible options ensure everyone can join in the outdoor dining experience.

Changing Seasons

Touchton Park transforms throughout the year, each season painting the landscape with different colors and textures. The shifting beauty makes it worth visiting in different months to experience the park's evolving character.

Wildlife Watching

Keep your eyes peeled for the park's wild residents! Graceful herons and egrets often wade at the pond's edge, while ducks glide across the water's surface. You'll likely spot squirrels darting between trees and maybe even catch a glimpse of a cottontail rabbit.

The pond itself is a miniature ecosystem where turtles bask on logs and fish swim lazily below the surface. While watching the turtles sunbathe is a treat, note that occasional alligator sightings have been reported - so perhaps think twice before feeding the ducks.

Good to Know

Four-legged friends are welcome at Touchton Park, but they must remain leashed at all times. Parking is free and plentiful, so finding a spot is rarely an issue.

One thing to remember: the park doesn't have public restrooms or water fountains. You might want to plan accordingly, especially if you're bringing kids or intending to stay for several hours.
