About the Location
Location and Overview
Tucked just south of Pines Boulevard and behind the Pembroke Pines Police Department sits Tanglewood Park, a refreshing green escape in the heart of Pembroke Pines, Florida. This green space is located in the Tanglewood Lakes neighborhood - a mix of single-family homes and condos that have been part of the community since the mid-1980s.
Gathering Spaces
At the heart of the park stands a spacious pavilion that comfortably fits up to 75 people - ideal for those family reunions or birthday celebrations you've been planning. If you're a Pembroke Pines resident, you'll get first dibs on reserving this spot (available from 8 am until sundown).
The pavilion area comes equipped with grilling facilities, so you can flip burgers while the kids play nearby. It's thoughtfully situated near restrooms and water fountains, making those longer gatherings much more comfortable.
Sports and Recreation
Feeling active? Tanglewood offers several options. The lighted basketball court means your pickup game doesn't have to end when the sun goes down. If volleyball's more your style, kick off your shoes and hit the sand volleyball court. Racquet sport enthusiasts will appreciate the racquetball courts (also called fronton courts) for some fast-paced action.
The park also features a generous multipurpose field where you can organize an impromptu soccer match or softball game. Keep an eye out for marked-off areas - these often protect the local wildlife, including the charming endangered burrowing owls that call the park home.
Kid-Friendly Features
Parents will appreciate the modern playground area with dedicated sections for different age groups - toddlers have their own space separate from the big kids. The playground's shade coverage is a real blessing during those hot Florida afternoons, keeping the equipment cool enough to touch.
While the restroom facilities are conveniently located nearby, you might want to bring a portable chair if you plan to supervise for long periods, as seating around the playground can be limited.
Natural Florida
The park borders a canal that offers glimpses of Florida's distinctive wildlife. Don't be surprised if you spot some sizable iguanas sunning themselves - they're practically local celebrities here and add to the authentic Florida experience.
Good to Know
No pets are allowed in the park, so Fido will need to sit this one out. If you're looking for a quieter experience, try visiting on weekday afternoons when the crowds thin out and you can enjoy a more peaceful connection with this local retreat.
