Candler Park

History and Overview

In 1922, Coca-Cola magnate Asa Griggs Candler donated the land that would become Candler Park to the city of Atlanta, and it's been a central gathering place ever since. The park spans 55 acres and carries an official historical designation - the Candler Park Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, with boundaries later expanded to include portions of the adjacent Lake Claire area.

The park sits on Atlanta's east side, surrounded by a cluster of well-known neighborhoods including Little Five Points, Lake Claire, Inman Park, Druid Hills, and Edgewood. Getting here is straightforward, thanks to the nearby Edgewood/Candler Park MARTA Station - making it accessible whether you're a local or coming from elsewhere in Atlanta.

Recreational Facilities

The park offers a little bit of everything when it comes to recreation. During festival days, you'll see people sprawled on blankets across the hillside, enjoying performances and the company of neighbors. While some longtime events like the Candler Park Music Festival have ended their run, the park continues to host gatherings that strengthen community bonds.
