Spink Collins Park
About Spink Collins Park
A Peaceful Woodland Escape
Nestled at the end of Collins Drive, this 21.49-acre wooded haven offers a breath of fresh air from Atlanta's urban buzz. Spink Collins Park is exactly the kind of place you'll want to visit when city life becomes a bit too much, and you need to reconnect with nature.
The park's network of wooded trails meanders through dense forest, fantastic for those who enjoy a bit of an adventure. Fair warning: some sections can be a bit challenging, but the effort is worth it. As you hike these paths, you'll discover yourself slowing down, noticing the local plants and wildlife, and maybe even forgetting you're still in the city.
One of our favorite discoveries here are the ruins of old stone buildings scattered along the trails. They add a touch of mystery to your walk, and conveniently placed benches nearby give you a moment to rest and soak in the peaceful surroundings.
Kid-Friendly Fun
If you're bringing little ones along, they'll love the shaded playground designed for children ages 2-12. It's got everything kids could want - multiple slides, bouncy spring riders, swings, and climbing structures all set on a soft wood chip surface.
What makes this play area special is the canopy of trees overhead, keeping it comfortably cool even during Georgia's warmer months - a real blessing for parents who'd rather not bake in the sun while supervising.
Get Fit in the Forest
For those looking to work up a sweat, Spink Collins offers a unique outdoor gym experience. The park's five fully shaded workout stations are positioned along a quarter-mile fitness trail winding through the woods.
You'll find the trailhead to the left of the playground near a picnic table. It's a refreshing alternative to indoor gyms - imagine doing your full-body workout with birds chirping overhead instead of piped-in music.
Places to Pause and Picnic
When hunger strikes, you'll discover picnic areas in two spots throughout the park. Look for one near the playground and another just past the park entrance.
Each picnic spot comes equipped with a table and grill, making them ideal for everything from a simple sandwich break to a full-on family cookout.
Just a heads-up: Spink Collins Park keeps things simple. You won't find designated parking lots, bathrooms, or water fountains here. Most visitors park along neighborhood streets, and the park entrance sits at the dead-end of Collins Drive. Remember to bring water and plan accordingly.
