Brookfield Park
About Brookfield Park
Park Overview
Brookfield Park opened its gates on November 14, 2003, as a SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) Phase IV project. This 6.5-acre green space cost $1.2 million to develop and is accessible 24/7.
The park offers a variety of options, from active play areas to peaceful spots to unwind.
Take a Stroll
One of the park's highlights is its 1/3 mile walking trail (some say it's closer to a half-mile) that loops around the entire park. It's convenient for getting in some steps while keeping an eye on the kids playing nearby. The paved surface provides a smooth path for walking, jogging, or strolling.
Near the entrance, you can find an interactive splash fountain that adds both visual charm and a refreshing cool-down spot. On hot summer days, you'll likely see children gleefully darting through the water jets.
Golf enthusiasts can use the nine-hole artificial putting green to practice their short game without heading to a full course.
If you're looking for more active options, the park's open field welcomes impromptu games of frisbee or catch, while the grass volleyball area is ready for some friendly competition. Several grilling spots are available throughout the park for outdoor cooking.
Kid-Friendly Fun
Brookfield Park includes two separate playground areas - one designed for toddlers ages 2-5, and another for older children.
The playgrounds feature various swings and climbing structures that keep kids engaged and active. Just a heads up - after rain, the playground area can get a bit muddy, so you might want to bring appropriate shoes if it's recently rained.
Comfort and Convenience
Clean restrooms are available in the comfort station, and three covered pavilions of different sizes provide shade and shelter for gatherings.
There are picnic tables throughout the park for family lunches, birthday celebrations, or casual meals. The grilling stations are particularly popular for weekend cookouts.
The landscaping creates a peaceful atmosphere away from urban bustle. And no need to worry about parking - there's paved space for 40 vehicles.
Bring Your Furry Friends
Your four-legged companions are welcome here! The park is dog-friendly, with plenty of space to explore (while on leash, of course). The walking trail makes for a great dog-walking route when you both need some exercise.
Looking Ahead
While the current park already offers plenty to enjoy, future plans include a second development phase that would add a community center and tennis courts. These additions would expand the recreational options available at Brookfield Park.
