Accessible Playground Features
Bowden Park features a playground designed for children ages 5-12. The playground includes an Avalanche Inclusive Slide, which allows children to access the slide from ground level and pull themselves up using side rails. This is complemented by a Ten Spin feature that accommodates up to 10 children at once, allowing those of all abilities to play together.
The park's surface is covered with bonded rubber, providing a soft and easily navigable surface for all users, including those with mobility devices. This attention to inclusive design makes Bowden Park a welcoming space for visitors of all abilities.
Recreation Opportunities
In addition to the playground, the park offers open grassy areas for casual recreation and picnicking. Adult visitors can make use of the outdoor gym equipment, which includes four exercise stations for fitness activities.
Innovative Communication Support
Bowden Park is also noteworthy for being the first park in Boise and Idaho to feature an Augmentative Alternative Communication Board. This innovative addition helps assist individuals with disabilities in having a more enjoyable park experience by facilitating communication between non-speaking or minimally speaking individuals and their caregivers, teachers, or peers.
