Park Overview

Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park is a 28-acre urban park located along the banks of the Boise River in Boise, Idaho. The park, managed by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department, offers a shady retreat for visitors with its abundance of mature trees.

Rich History

Originally established in 1918 as the Boise Tourist Campground, the area has a rich history. It initially served as a campground for travelers, featuring tent sites, communal kitchens, and car washing facilities.

In 1927, the City of Boise acquired the land and renamed it Boise Municipal Park. The park briefly closed in 1938 before reopening as a day-use urban park.

Olympic Namesake

In 2016, the park was rededicated and renamed in honor of Kristin Armstrong, a three-time Olympic gold medalist cyclist from Boise. This rededication reflects the community's pride in its local sports hero and adds significance to the park's identity.
