Mountain View Park
About Mountain View Park
Park Overview
Situated in west Boise, Mountain View Park spans a cozy 8 acres of neighborhood greenery. While it might be a bit hidden along W. Ustick Rd., that's part of its charm - the secluded setting creates a peaceful retreat from the bustle of everyday life.
Recreation Areas
The expansive grassy fields are well-maintained - suitable for tossing a frisbee, spreading out a picnic blanket, or letting the kids run wild. On breezy days, you'll often spot colorful kites dancing in the sky. There's enough space for multiple sports teams to practice simultaneously.
Little ones will love the playground designed for ages 2-12, complete with safety-focused wood chip surfacing. It has all the classics - swings, slides, and climbing structures - plus a quirky tube phone that never fails to entertain the younger crowd.
For those feeling a bit more competitive, the tennis and basketball courts offer space for everything from casual games to serious matches. The courts have seen their fair share of love over the years, with occasional resurfacing keeping them in playable condition.
Amenities
You'll discover picnic tables dotted around the park, making it easy to enjoy an outdoor meal or celebrate a special occasion. Pro tip: we suggest bringing along a tablecloth to cover the tables if you're planning something special.
The restrooms are conveniently located in the center of the park and are typically clean and well-maintained, with two bathrooms for each gender.
When summer heat hits, you'll appreciate the numerous trees providing natural shade across the grounds - perfect spots to relax with a book or simply watch the world go by.
Dog-Friendly Environment
Four-legged friends are welcome at Mountain View Park, making it a go-to spot for neighborhood dog owners. Just note that while leashes are required, you might occasionally encounter some free-range pups whose owners have bent the rules.
Seasonal Information
During winter, be aware that the restrooms close and drinking fountains shut off. If you're planning a cold-weather visit, check the city's website for information about year-round facilities available at other nearby parks.
History
The land that became Mountain View Park was acquired back in January 1972 from two families - Susie and Bruce Amos alongside Alice and Max Handley. Their contribution helped expand Boise's network of green spaces, adding to the natural beauty and recreational opportunities that make this city special.
