Sycamore Park
About Sycamore Park
Park Overview
Tucked away in west Boise, Sycamore Park spans a cozy 7 acres, offering locals and visitors a surprisingly tranquil retreat despite its proximity to a major road. This neighborhood haven keeps its gates open from 7AM to 10PM daily, welcoming everyone to enjoy its generous open spaces and leafy shade trees that create a refreshing escape from the urban hustle.
Recreation Areas
The park features plenty of well-maintained grassy areas excellent for whatever outdoor activity strikes your fancy. Whether you're planning an impromptu frisbee game, walking your four-legged friend, or just looking for a spot to stretch out with a good book, there's ample space for all.
Kids are drawn to the Evos play system - a "gyroscopic" playground structure that provides plenty of opportunities for climbing, sliding, balancing, and bouncing. The playground is thoughtfully designed for children aged 2-12, with wood chips cushioning any tumbles or jumps.
The play area is nicely divided into age-appropriate sections, featuring a toddler playground for the little ones, a more challenging big kid climber for the adventurous types, and swings for everyone in between. While the equipment is newer and well-maintained, just be aware that the toddler structure can heat up considerably on sunny Idaho days.
Amenities
You'll find clean restroom facilities throughout most of the year, making it easy to spend hours exploring and playing. During winter months, these are replaced with portable restrooms - not as charming, perhaps, but they get the job done when temperatures drop.
Picnic Areas
Fancy an outdoor lunch? The park features a non-reservable picnic shelter with multiple tables where you can enjoy a meal surrounded by nature. This shaded ramada is a great spot to refuel, celebrate a birthday, or simply take a break from the sun while still soaking in the park's peaceful atmosphere.
Park Atmosphere
Yes, you might catch some traffic sounds from the nearby freeway, but the thoughtful layout includes buffer zones that help keep the noise at bay. The designers clearly put some thought into creating enough distance between the play areas and the road to maintain the park's serene vibe.
The blend of open spaces, mature shade trees, and well-kept facilities makes Sycamore Park a go-to destination for families and dog owners looking for a pleasant outdoor experience in west Boise.
Park Policies
In line with Boise's commitment to public health, smoking and vaping aren't allowed in the park or within 20 feet of the Boise River Greenbelt. This helps keep the air fresh and the environment clean for everyone to enjoy.
